Professional Development Plan 2018-2023

At present, I am an excluded manager with the BC government. I lead a team of dedicated, hard-working employees in an atmosphere of constant change and continuous improvement. I am content with my current position and plan to stay where I am for the next few years.

I had a significant disruption in my life a few years back, which brought chaos and uncertainty into my life. I struggled for a couple of years to get back on my feet. Now I am back on solid ground, journeying along an interesting and satisfying career path and settled into a comfortable lifestyle.

Spring 2018

Complete Provincial Instructor Diploma and earn my diploma.

Become a trainer for CSP training in my division and throughout government.

Continue being a trainer for Service Framework training in my division. Participate in the design of future components.

Fall 2018

Obtain Customer Service Manager (CSM) certification.

Become a trainer for CSM training in my division and throughout government.

2019-2023

I have a hard time planning beyond this year. I occasionally toss around the idea of working toward a Master’s Degree in Community Development from the University of Victoria, as this program is designed for working professionals using a distance learning cohort model. This is a longer term goal that will have to wait until my daughter is older and more independent.

If I am honest with myself, I truly believe that I need to relax for a few years and focus on personal development and family enjoyment. I am the single parent of a beautiful daughter, who is growing up fast, and I want to enjoy spending quality time with her. So, with this plan, I commit to working smart and continuously improving my practice of service leadership and teaching excellence at work. I also commit to dedicating evenings, weekends and holidays to continuously improving my parenting skills and deepening my relationship with my daughter and our friends and family.
